Luxor
Anjie has a boyfrined, Eid, the guy who runs the bar downstairs at our hotel. There was a bunch of drama tonight involving the three of us, Eid and Ali... a he said she said type thing. Too annoying and boring to relate. Anjie and Liz are both mad at Ali though and I had to make him stop following us around. Lame.
Am getting used to sweat constantly pouring down my face. It must be like 100 degrees here. I'm glad I decided to go to south before it gets to be much hotter.
We went to the museum of mummification today. It's totally dark in there and no flash is allowed to preserve the mummies. I accidently forgot to turn mine off when taking a pic. oops. At least I know how to say "I'm sorry" in Arabic ! (Min fadlik).
I bought a goblet with an Egyptian motif for my goblet collection and a David Roberts book. Check out those paintings at the bottom of that page. He's my current fav landscape painter. He travelled all over Egypt and the Holy Land in 1838 and did some bad-ass paintings. Going to have to study it hard !
In the evening we met Sunshine for a tour of Karnak and Luxor temples. Karnak was totally amazing. I took a little video of some of it but for some reason I thought it was a good idea to film half of it sideways. Not sure what I was thinking.... Sunshine told us Karnak was built over a period of 2000 years !!!!
It was dusk when we got to the temple of Luxor and it was artifically lit very dramatically. Got some cool pics although they're a little on the blurry side. Sunshine showed us a pic of the god Amun-Ra with a huge erection. Check it out.
Ali was of course waiting for us when we got back.... so crazy, but what a hottie...
Eid gave Anjie a tissue with his blood on it when we left. How romantic ! American guys just don't really do things like that.... I think she should keep it in a locket.
